Looking Tired Treatment in South Wales

For when you Look Tired when you Feel Awake

Why do I look tired?

Faces generally look tired when the eye area shows eyebags, dark circles, saggy skin, dropped eyebrows, redness, paleness or blue tinge under the eye, puffy eye area, bloodshot eyes, eye area wrinkles and lines.  Dull skin, paleness and sagging skin affecting the face generally can also give faces a tired appearance.

Pretty much all of these things can happen for reasons other than tiredness.

Why does looking tired matter?

When you look in the mirror and see yourself looking tired it can be frustrating if you feel awake and alert, but your face tells the world a different story.  Like it or not, our face is a primary communicator of many things about us to the world including our feelings, emotions and physical health.  Looking like you have not slept well can give  signal that you aren't taking good care of your physical health, are working too hard or are worried about something.  You may worry that friends, family or work colleagues may think you aren't paying attention to them because you feel tired.  Of course, looking tired is only a problem if it bothers you.

What are my options if i want to look less tired?

The good news is that Dr Gwen Adey Aesthetics has lots of options to help you look more well rested.  It all starts with a Consultation with Dr Gwen.  The best options for you will depend on the cause of the changes you have in your eye area and face in general.  Your treatment recommendations will be bespoke and may include clinic treatment and things you can do at home.

What are examples of things I might do to look less tired if I suffer with swelling eye bags?

If you suffer with swollen eye bags, some of things to consider would include:

  • Sleeping position (sleep on more pillows so you head is propped up higher)

  • Avoid botulinum toxin around the eyes (reduces the muscle pump action)

  • Home skin care with decent concentration active ingredients

  • Polynucleotides

  • Mesotherapy

  • Platelet Rich Plasma

  • Surgery

What are examples of treatment options if I suffer with darker skin or pigmentation around my eyes?

  • Topical skincare creams including ingredients like vitamin C, retinoids, niacinamide

  • Sun protection all over the eye area, right up to the lashes 365 days per year (ZO Skincare SPF is great)

  • Polynucleotides

  • Mesotherapy

  • Chemical peels e.g. cosmelan dermamelan de-pigmentation programmes by Mesoestetic

What could I do to improve saggy skin around my eyes?

  • Topical skincare treatments like retinols, peptides, vitamin C

  • Drink plenty of water to stay well hydrate

  • Diet containing adequate protein

  • Sun protection

  • Microneedling

  • Mesotherapy

  • Polynucleotides

  • Botulinum toxin strategically used to lift your brow and pull up sagging skin

  • Platelet Rich Plasma PRP

What could I do to improve droopy eyebrows?

Droopy eyebrows can happen with aging in general causing changes in the skin and muscle tone, but this can also be caused by poorly placed botulinum toxin treatment.  Ways to improve droopy brows  include:

  • Skincare to improve skin condition

  • Sun protection

  • Botulinum toxin treatment - done right this will improve droopy brows, done wrong it will make them worse.  This is why at Dr Gwen Adey Aesthetics, ultrasound mapping and in-depth anatomical knowledge are used to give you a beautiful result.

  • Polynucleotides, Mesotherapy, Platelet Rich Plasma PRP and Microneedling can also contribute to improving this concern

What could I do to reduce redness around my eyes?

Addressing allergies can help a lot with redness.

  • Avoiding allergens

  • Air purifiers with HEPA filters eg Levoit air purifier in your home and work can extract allergens from the air.  If you haven't tried this, give it a go because it can make a huge difference.

  • Anti-histamines and allergy eyedrops if appropriate - see your pharmacist or GP

  • Lubricating eye drops to relieve eye symptoms to prevent you rubbing the eye area

  • Use hypo-allergenic makeup and as little as possible of it

  • Remove eye makeup with a damp gentle cleanser to avoid pulling or dragging the delicate eye skin

  • Consider allergy testing for environmental and dietary allergies

  • Polynucleotides are great for reducing inflammation and reducing redness

What can I do about paleness under my eyes?

The under eye skin is the thinnest on the face so changes in colour can easily be seen.

  • Blood tests to check your iron level because anaemia is a common cause of this concern

  • Blood tests to check your vitamin and mineral nutritional status

  • Polynucleotides work wonderfully to thicken the skin which is very effective at reducing pale appearance

  • Digsuise with tinted sun protection or makeup

What can I do about blueness under my eyes?

In fair skintones, the thinness of the skin can mean the underlying structures become visible through the skin, giving a blue toned hue.

What can I do about bloodshot eyes?

  • Address allergies

  • Get your eyesight check with your optician to make sure your prescription, if you need one, is up to date.

  • See your optician if contact lens wear is causing you problems

  • Try to avoid rubbing your eyes

  • Throw away eye makeup every 6 months and replace with new

  • Wash eye makeup brushes once per week

  • Throw away all eyemakeup and brushes if you suffer with an infection

  • Don't share makeup

  • Use a gentle eyemakeup remover and avoid any dragging of the skin

  • Use something lubricating eye drops like Blink hyaluronic acid drops.  Single dose are best as they are usually preservative free.

  • Bloodshot Eye Drops will take away redness very nicely for many people
